» The Theme 2010

Reviewed by Steve Milton / Submitted 09-07-10 21:45

Label: NTR Red (UK)
Format: Digital
Genre: Tech Trance

Real international feel for this track with NTR red (UK) serving up a tech inspired number called The Theme 2010 from Irelands Adam Corbett and on remix duties is Canada’s Brent Sadowick.

The original mix kicks off the action with a heavyweight beat, no prisoners taken here. Strangled synth stabs lead you into a drop then a saw tooth synth takes over the lead. It’s all mean and nasty before the break and not much changes after. A simple lead builds into a more subtle and delicate sound before kicking back off with all that twisted nonsense. It’s down and dirty but not overly complex with a slight euro whiff.

The Brent Sadowick mix starts with a lighter intro before the main beat kicks in. This is another freight train of a track. Stop start beats are in dispersed with short synth stabs before this builds into the more usual tech structure. The main synth chords are held back to create an uneasy feel, this is about as tech as you can get without being full on techno, very little lead and masses of bass and percussion.

Decent enough tracks for those tech heads out there and will sound good on a big system but personally didn’t quite do enough for higher marks.
