» SAME Radio Show Volume One

Reviewed by Adam Symbiosis / Submitted 09-02-10 21:05

Label: SAME Recordings
Format: 2 x CD
Genre: Trance

After taking over the Global FM airwaves in 2009 with his SAME Radio Show, host Steve Anderson partners up with his production partner Chris Breame to release a two CD package encapsulating just what the show is about.

Not surprisingly the album sidesteps the usual trance fayre so seemingly reproduced across countless long players, instead featuring lesser known tracks from up and coming and established producers and remixers alongside a clutch of tracks from Steve, Chris in his BRM guise and the duo – under the A/B Project moniker.

Steve’s set unfolds and indeed closes to the sounds of his voice, faithfully recorded and laid down in his studio while the centre includes progressive sounds from the likes of Tritonal, Terry Ferminal and the beautiful Bliss by Alpha 9 – relaxing and euphoric in one succinct package.

The Chris Breame set manages to hold a real journey through funky trance numbers like Tasadi’s Jupiter, through to tougher numbers in the form of Pushover by Heartbeat before closing on the hands in the air Nitrous Oxide remix of Central Park.

I was impressed by the breadth of this package and how the music moves in different directions as the sets progress. I think there could have been just a touch more vocals in the Breame set but that’s just personal opinion. The fact that this isn’t just stuffed with the easy route of all the latest big tracks and instead plays host to a clutch of tracks from the two growing stars just goes to show that they are both ones to watch closely over the coming years.
