» Serious Sound / You’ll Know it

Label: Tidy Two
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Hard Trance

Guy Mearns (aka Riot Bros & Guyver) once again sets the hard trance stage alight with this superb release on tidy two.

A – Serious Sound: What a tune!! Intro has some nice tight percussion (with a cymbal that reminds me of the moving knives in tomb raider) followed by a trancey b line and some super high strings to lead us into the main break. Well thought out snare pattern and percussion then builds us into a main riff that will send shivers down your spine (well mine anyway). I like the structure of the tune, which, like Ripped Out, is a little different from the norm and a lot better for it. A couple of extra breaks and then we’ve done. This one gets 9.5/10.

B – You’ll Know It: Very hard kick boots this track off with an interesting b-line to accompany it to the first break. After which the bassline drops in and we discover the reason for that hard kick in what closely resembles a German Hard Tance sound, which unfortunately, doesn’t do it for me. The tune follows along in that style keeping relatively dark. Production is still fantastic and this tune would be well worth a listen for those people into the german and darker sounds. 6.5/10.
